Ferry connecting between Senja and Andøya (Vesterålen). Nice boat ride with the possibility to spot whales. (At least that happened when we took the ferry the last times) In July it is highly recommended to be at the port 2-3 hours before departure. It is a very popular route and the ferry has little capacity. You buy the tickets when you drive onto the boat. It is not possible to make a reservation. The Gryllefjord - Andenes Ferry is only in summer active.

You will find the ferry times on this website.

OUR TIP: Come in Winter to Northern Norway and hire a winter-ready camper van from Tromsø. You will find all about it here: Aurora hunting with a camper van.

  • You really have to come early. On the 3rd of july 2023, we arrived at 14:00 hoping to take the ferry at 15:00. But the queue was already much longer than the ferry capacity. We were even not sure to manage get in the next (and last) one at 19:00. Finally, we managed and it was worth the waiting.
